This program is designed for lawyers and non-lawyers. Everything you need to know to become a mediator and help people make win/win agreements.  This is both a skills – based and theory based course. It contains highly engaging lessons involving watching and listening to lectures, watching videos, role-playing, reading, self – assessment and writing answers to assignments. The program starts with communication skillset and moves onto the Mediation skillset.

This program adheres to the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR – a merged organization of AFM, CRENET and SPIDR) requirements enabling you to apply for practitioner membership in both organizations. (Membership cannot be guaranteed.)

You will learn and practice:

  • Mediation skills such as reflective listening, reframing, building rapport  
  • A step-by-step, interest - based, facilitative problem-solving method.
  • The difference between Arbitration and Mediation as well as other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
  • A user-friendly personality assessment method based on Carl Jung’s writings that is valid, tested and has been in use for over 40 years.
  • To Identify your values, strengths, needs, joys and conflict triggers.
  • Structure and schedule the timing in a Mediation Session.
  • To identify the personalities of other people to assist in negotiation.

When you enroll in this program you will receive:

  • 5 training modules with pre – recorded Tele-lectures
  • Video links, discussion 2 quizzes and assignments  
  • Role-Playing ability

You will also receive:

  • One concluding 30-minute phone meeting with Dr. Shapiro regarding any questions, role-play, mediation and conflict coach formatting details, how to set up and build a mediation practice, marketing, sales, and potential markets.
